If 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says that scripture is inspired by God, then why do we often pick & choose which parts to pay attention to (or ignore)?

Prayer prompt for Thursday, April 16

When Satan tempted Jesus (Matthew 4), he could have responded with an uppercut to the jaw or fire from heaven. Instead, he quoted Scripture.

There are certain things in my memory that I wish I could forget. Countering those bad memories with Scripture is very comforting.

A word of caution: the Holy Spirit will never contradict God’s word in scripture. He is the same yesterday, today, & forever (Hebrews 13:8).
